If you have work experience as an in-home child-care provider or as a home support worker, you may be able to apply for permanent residence under the caregiver class. There are two programs for this:-
As of June 18, 2019, there are 2 pilots to let you hire a foreign in-home caregiver:
- Home Child Care Provider pilot
◦ National Occupational Classification 4411, excluding foster parents
- Home Support Worker pilot
◦ National Occupational Classification 4412, excluding housekeepers
The Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker pilots provide in-home caregivers with the opportunity to become a permanent resident once they have 2 years of eligible work experience in Canada. It also lets their family members come to Canada to work or study while they get work experience.
1. CARING FOR CHILDREN PROGRAM
You can apply through the Caring for Children class if you:
- have been working as a home child care provider for at least 2 years
- meet minimum language and education requirements
2. CARING FOR PEOPLE WITH HIGH MEDICAL NEEDS PROGRAM
You can apply through the Caring for People with High Medical Needs class if you:
- Have been working for at least 2 years as a:
◦ registered nurse
◦ licensed practical nurse
◦ a nurse aide or orderly
◦ home support worker
◦ meet minimum language and education requirements
